Today is the last day of NAIDOC 2026, celebrating fifty years of deadly.

Today was also the same day Pauline Hanson was scheduled to speak at an anti-trans rally in so called Brisbane. The same Hanson that recently spoke at the National Press Club about defunding and shutting down federal First Nations services.

This photo was taken at a BLM march in Magandjin organised by @warrevolt in 2020. In the six years since this march this country has only gotten more oppressive and direct in its targeting of First Nations people. From @gooricampembassy fighting off Olympic Stadium development in Victoria Park to the 33 First Nations people killed in custody by police in 2025.

To the recently reported on 'Project invisibility' an alleged organised strategy to remove First Nations representation by the Crisafulli LNP govt in so called Queensland. This campaign of removal has particularly targeted the health and arts sector. And was especially apparent after K A Ren Wyld's fellowship was revoked by the State Library following an intervention by the Queensland government.

I point all this out because its highly likely that at bare minimum Pauline Hanson will be the opposition leader after the next federal election. But things are bad getting worse right now under Anthony Albanese Labor. Pauline is just saying quiet parts out loud.

For over 200 years though First Nations people have been fighting and winning because they're still here. For fifty years NAIDOC has been this national moment where everyone has to take notice of that continued fight and resistance.

This weeks an opportunity for you to take a moment and make a commitment for how your going to use your privilege to ensure that this time next year we can talk about all the things that are better.

As always give to mutual aid, especially First Nations mutual aid. Sovereignty was never ceded, always was always will be.
